Advisor

Don is an Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. With more than 30 years of experience in finance at Unisys, he joined JCL Financial Group, LLC, in 2007. Don guides families and individuals through key financial decisions and implementation so they can focus on enjoying life. He helps clients answer questions such as:

  • When can I retire?
  • How much do I need to save for retirement?
  • When should I take social security?
  • How much income do I need?
  • Should I roll over my 401(k) or 403(b)?

His interest in financial planning was sparked when he took a job working for a professor on asset allocation and other financial research to pay for graduate school. After MBA graduation, he started his career in corporate finance with Unisys. Don had a successful corporate career that spanned 31 years, where co-workers came to him for advice regarding their 401(k)s.

He continued to do his own asset allocation and investment selection as a hobby. This prompted Nancy, his wife, to see his true potential and agree to his career change. Don is now doing something he loves—helping people align their finances with their goals by acting as their trusted advisor. He especially is passionate about helping people thrive during financial transitions like retirement or recovering from job loss.

Don earned his undergraduate degree in economics and his MBA in finance from Temple University. In order to better serve his clients, Don has earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, along with his FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations and insurance license. Don is also a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Don was quoted by Money magazine in its August 2014 cover story, “How to Reach $1 Million,” on how to boost 401(k) contribution rates before raises kick in. Allocating a part of your raise to a 401(k) before it goes into the checking account is a relatively painless way to increase your saving rate. For younger working adults, it can be a great, hands-off way to start saving.

Don resides in Warrington, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Nancy. Their two children are both married and “off the payroll.” In his spare time, Don enjoys volunteering at his local church and food bank. Whether it’s volunteering or planning for a client’s financial future, Don truly has a passion for helping others.
